Omkareshwar has many beautiful, religious and historic places to visit, here are some suggestios, for your trip.

On the banks of the Narmada, Omkareswar is a Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva. It is located at a distance of about 77 KM from Indore and 13 km from Mortakka in Madhya Pradesh. The river Narmada splits into two and forms an island named Mandhata or Shivapuri in the center. This island is about 4 KM long and 2 KM wide. The shape of the island resembles the visual representation of the letter Om.
Mamleshwar mandir is on the south bank of Narmada. The correct name of this mandir is Amaraeshwar. Devotees have darshan and poojan in Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar both. This temple is an excellent monument of ancient architecture and stone work. On the walls of this temple mahimn strotas are engraved which are expected of 1063AD. Maharani Ahilyabai holkar used to worship in this temple and purohit of holkar state are doing poojan archan from her time till now. This temple is under care of Ahilyabai khasgi trust. This temple is a protected monument under Archaeological survey of India.
Devotees of lord Omkareshwar perform circumambulation or “Parikrama” of Mandhata parvat and Omkareshwar temple with narmada water in hand for fulfillment of there wishes.ita about 7 km walk and during the parikrama many temples and Structures are visited by devotees. Some of them are Chand Suraj Dwar and Bheem arjun Dwar, Ashapuri Mandir, Siddhanath Mandir, Gauri Somnath Mandir and Rinmukteshwar Mandir
Only Jyotirlinga comes in the journey of river is Omkareshwar. Devotees and Purohitas perform Narmada Arti and flow little lamps in river at every evening, this is known as “Deepdan”. It creates a beautiful scene when beautiful lamps twinkle on the waves of holy Narmada. Here Narmada River is spitted in to two parts that causes the construction of the island named “Vaidurya Mani Parvat” in the puranas where Omkareshwar Jyotirling is situated. In the north of the Island It is called as Kaveri which is broad and shallow and in south is narmada stays narrow and deep.
